There’s something magical about going to the mall. The best malls always have a unique, exciting atmosphere to them, such as Burlington Shopping Mall. There’s something that makes them stand apart from the other shopping centres that you will typically find.
However, they can also be stunningly large as well. These large malls are truly a sight to behold, and offer the finest shopping and most fascinating opportunities to experience. For those interested, we have collected a handful of the best malls that can be found in the world today.
1. Centralworld
A person could easily spend an entire day at CentralWorld, which is Thailand’s largest shopping mall. The grand shopping mall has shopping that includes brand name fashion, various boutiques, diverse gadget shops, bookstores with all of your reading needs and designer furniture for even the most picky of interior design needs. These fine touches are further highlighted by imported food, banks, beauty salons, dining options and even an ice skating rink to entertain shoppers. Clearly, you can have a fine time at Centralworld on even the most boring of days.
2. Cevahir
Known as the largest shopping centre in Europe, this mall ranks in at an impressive area of 3.47 million square feet. Located on Büyükdere Avenue in Istanbul’s Şişli district, Cevahir is pretty difficult miss if you’re in the area. Shoppers will find that there are 343 shops and 48 restaurants in the six-story shopping centre. The mall even has a centre stage for events, as well as 12 movie cinemas, a bowling alley and even a small roller coaster for shoppers looking for a little thrill to punctuate their day.
3. West Edmonton Mall
Found in Alberta, Canada, West Edmonton Mall is the largest mall in North America and is home to over 800 shops and services. The shopping center features fantastic attractions like Galaxyland, World Waterpark, as well as an ice palace, adventure golf and much more that makes this mall as much a tourist attraction as a place to shop. There are also two hotels located on the site for those who simply don’t want to leave. Naturally, these hotels are accompanied by more than 100 places to dine. Putting simply, it’s intensely hard to beat West Edmonton Mall.
4. King of Prussia Mall
Found in Pennsylvania, the largest shopping mall in the United States covers almost three million square feet. The King of Prussia Mall opened its doors in 1963, when it was composed of two separate buildings that have since joined. This huge mall attracts 22 million visitors each year. This is thanks in large part to its renowned brands such as Nordstrom, Macy’s and Bloomingdales, as well as other luxury retailers. It’s pretty safe to say that you’ll find something nice to buy whenever you visit the King of Prussia Mall.
5. Berjaya Times Square
Berjaya Times Square, with an area of 7.5 million square feet, is the fifth largest building in the world. This mall found in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia features over 1,000 shops, 65 restaurants and a variety of entertainment attractions including Asia’s largest indoor theme park, Cosmo’s World, as well as Malaysia’s first IMAX 2D & 3D Theatre.
As you can probably imagine, this shopping center is more akin to an amusement park than a shopping mall. However, you can still find a fantastic range of shops alongside all of the fun stuff.
6. New South China Mall
According to the total of the area you can lease in it, the New South China Mall in Dongguan, China is the world’s largest shopping mall. Technically, it opened in 2005, but remained vacant for 10 years and was therefore called a “dead shopping centre.” This was until its renovation in 2015. A billionaire specializing in the noodle industry, Hu Guirong, led the mall project. Although, control of the mall is now in the hands of the Founders Group, which is a division of Peking University.
While it may be the world’s largest mall technically, it doesn’t fully live up to the name. Fortunately, however, it’s liveliness is definitely on the rise!
7. Dubai Mall
This expanding mall in the world’s glamour capital is easy to get lost in, but not in a bad way, of course. With more than 12 million square feet, which is equivalent to more than 50 football fields, the Dubai Mall is the world’s largest mall based on total area. The shopping centre has more than 1,200 shops, an ice rink, a SEGA arcade, a five-star hotel, 22 total cinema screens and 120 places to dine. It also has the largest indoor aquarium in the world, and is also the gateway to the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. It’s pretty clear that Dubai enjoys smashing records of all kinds, and they’ve become adept at doing so.
